Harbor Dental, site rebuild
Priya Shah
$4,200. Monday 14 September was the start I was holding.
First ask: 2 September. She said she would look that night. Then nine days of nothing.
Day 2. Sent 11 September, which is later than it should have been. I waited because the silence felt polite. It was not polite. It was a week.
Priya,
Monday 14 September is still open for the Harbor rebuild, and $4,200 is the same figure as the proposal. I can start that morning if you want it. If the date moved, tell me in one line and I will close the file.
Lena Ortiz
I kept the money in the second sentence. A note that only repeats the date lets the next email start negotiating. She already has the proposal. This one does not summarize it.
Day 5. Sent 14 September. Still nothing.
Priya,
No reply, so this is closed on my side. If you want it reopened, $4,200 still stands and the start is the next Monday you name. I will not send another note about it.
Lena Ortiz
Vague reply, parked in the file in case she writes "when things settle":
Priya,
I can start when the Monday is a real date. Until then the file stays closed. $4,200 does not change while it waits.
Lena Ortiz
The rule I actually used: two notes, then stop. A third note is how a price learns to flinch. I put day 5 on the calendar the hour day 2 went out, so I would not wait another nine days and call it patience.
Adapt: Soften day 5 if this client has paid you on time for a year. Cut "I will not send another note" and leave the close.
Adapt: Put your real figure where $4,200 sits, in the day 2 note and again in the day 5 note. A number that appears once gets argued in the second email.
Adapt: If they already answered with a date, delete the day 5 note before it sends. A close on top of a yes makes you look lost.
